Hoy empezó la construcción del inviernadero
Hoy, Rémy, un antiguo huespe de nuestro hostel, y Thibault, empezaron la construcción de un techo, detrás del edificio. El objetivo final es tener una terraza totalmente cubierta e instalar paneles solares para captar la energía del sol y así ahorrar electricidad, y preservar el planeta. El interior de la terraza se convertirá en un inviernadero, donde cultivarémos plantas para el hostel. Aquí pueden seguir la evolución del trabajo.
An animated week-end
This week-end, many people coming from the United States, Canada, Australia and Brazil gathered in the hostel. Yesterday, we played music and sang together a brazilian song called "she robbed my truck", it was so great!

Thibault, our new volunteer from France arrived today
Good news, our new volunteer arrived today. His name is Thibault and he hails from France. Thibault will be heading up the natural plaster workshops. Stay tuned for the fun!!!
Crazy Frida Left for the North Today
Would a woman wear a burka on a bicycle in Iran???? Monika knows. She left the hostel this morning headed north. She is traveling the world on her bicycle. She crossed the Atlantic in a sailboat with her bike strapped to the hull. And yes she biked across Iran with a burka!! Read about her travels on her Crazy Frida Blog

We had a great going away party for Lionel last night. Lots of homemade pizza, wine and music. Costume party fun. We are going to miss you Lionel!!!!
Solar Hot Water Workshop at the Jardín Agroecológico en Valdivia
Today we made a solar water heater. The two day workshop was a success and we ended up with a 60 liter hot water tank and solar panel. What a great solution for heating water. It works on cloudy days and cost only 60,000 chilean pesos to make.
