Looking for hands on experience with sustainable living skills or a nice place to live in exchange for  work?  We have a limited number of work trade opportunties available.  Interns are accepted as well but we prefer a comitment of at least two months.

We offer the opportunity to learn permaculture design skills as well as housing and meals in our cozy hostel and forest retreat. 

Here are some of the projects we need help with:

Rainwater catchment system:  This is an important project that needs the right person to make it a reality. Do you have plumbing skills, masonary experience or mechanical engineering background. It rains a lot in Valdivia, so we want to take advantage of it and create a double rainwater catchment system.  One is a tank to catch water for our laundry and emergency water needs, the other is the overflow to fill our duck pond and later use it to water the garden. This is a beautiful project,  We are almost there. Come and make it happen!!

Solar Power Charging Station:  Build a structure to place the panels and connect the battery. We have the parts, we just need some help with the finishing touches.  It has to be integrated with the other parts.  Seems easy but maybe it is more.

Chicken and Duck Paradise:  Our chicken tractor is good but the chooks need a bigger space to run.  Gardel, the duck needs to be included.  He likes to swim.  He  usally runs the garden and iis fun but sometimes he needs a place with the chicks.

Natural Painting and plastering:  Winter is here and there is time for  makeovers.  Help us mix the and apply the plasters.  We will show you how.

Garden and Food Forest Design:  The master plan for the garden is almost ready.  If you know about Chilean native plants and would like to build a food forest, this the place for you.

Vertical Garden: The front of our hostel is the perfect place to build a vertical garden.  The building is concrete and on a busy street so we need someone with good construction skills to make this a safe demonstration. The system will include an integrated watering system.

Solar shower:  This requires someone with good construction skills and eye for design.  To pull this project off, it has to look great and function well. The runoff water will water the garden.

Greenhouse window installation and sealing:  The first stage of the greenhouse is done, now we need to place the windows and seal the leaks.  This passive greenhouse will help heat the hostel and grow plants for the spring. 

Kitchen Master:  Build an integrated high efficiency stove that will heat our greenhouse and provide a place to cook that delicious fish that comes the feria fluvial. The outdoor kitchen is the place everyone wants to be right¡

Organic Bedding Seamtress:  Find local sources for fabric and create duvet covers.  We have the sewing machine, all we lack is the magic seamtress. 

Murialist:  Art is an important part of permaculture.  Create the dream with your paintings.  City Repair Projects are beautiful, take your art to the streets.
